Mbarara– Police in Mbarara City have arrested a 27-year-old boda boda rider, Richard Agumaniiwe, a resident of Katojo Cell in Katojo Ward, Mbarara City South Division, over an alleged attempted murder incident involving a senior police officer.
The Boda Boda Rider is seen in a viral video on various social media platforms riding at the High speed his motorcycle and knocked down a police officer on duty.
According to preliminary findings from Police,the incident occurred on Monday at around 4:00 pm at the Kikona–Ruti Town Road junction along the Mbarara–Kabale Road.
SP Ocaya Kennedy, the Officer in Charge of Mbarara City South Division, was on duty clearing the road for President Museveni’s motorcade, which was moving from Rwampara District to Mbarara City for its second campaign rally of the day.
The suspect, who was riding a Yamaha motorcycle registration number UAC 177Z, was instructed to clear the road for the presidential convoy. However, he allegedly ignored the directive, continued at high speed, and intentionally knocked SP Ocaya, injuring him.
He is expected to be brought to book as soon as investigations are concluded.
