KAMPALA– The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Elections Tribunal has order the Party Electoral Commission to organize fresh elections for the flag bearer on position of Elderly Member of Parliament (Western Region).

In the recent Party Primaries, the NRM Electoral Commission declared Jacqueline Mbabazi as the winner and the flag bearer for the Party in 2026 General elections.
However this was challenged on a number of grounds but specifically, that the number of registered voters exceded the number of votes announced.
“The ruling of this Tribunal in Petition No. PT-CEC-001 of 2025, delivered on 5th September 2025, is hereby reviewed and set aside.”
The evidence which was produced by the petitioner showed that while there were only 364 eligible voters, a total of 430 votes were recorded which was an excess of 66 votes.
The NRM Electoral Commission is directed to conduct a fresh election for the above position, but in strict compliance with the NRM Constitution, the Regulations, the guidelines, within 14 (Fourteen) days of this ruling.
The Tribunal panel consisted of John Musiime, the Panel Head, Nelson Kamuhanda , a Member and Esau Isingoma also a member.
