KAMPALA– A few minutes after being nominated as a full Presidential candidate, National Unity Platform President Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu has given a message to all jailed Politicians and supporters of the opposition political parties, that he recognizes their efforts and they will not be rendered futile.
“To our senior comrade Dr. Kizza Besigye; To comrades Alex Waiswa Mufumbiro, Bobi Young, Eddie Mutwe, Achileo, Machete, Gaddafi, and all political prisoners; we honor you.” Said Kyagulanyi
Kyagulanyi therefore called upon family members of the incarcerated Political Prisoners and those that lost their beloved ones as a result of politics, and every other Ugandan affected by the struggle, not lose hope.
“If we give up now; we shall have no moral authority to complain about what happens next. If we surrender now, that means that the fighting spirit Ritah Nabukenya, of Frank Senteza, of Yasin Kauma and many others has been defeated. It means they died in vain.”
He further added that, it will mean betrayal of their comrades who have spent years in prison counting on them , who are still ‘free’ to continue fighting for their freedom too.
