Mukono, Uganda– Mt. Lebanon Church Mukono, under the leadership of Dr. Bishop Samuel Lwandasa, has once again extended a hand of generosity to the community by donating over 50 hospital mattresses to Mukono General Hospital.

The initiative was made possible with support from partners in India, led by Bishop Zion of the Overseas Apostolic Ministry Assemblies in India and Rev. Bob.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, Bishop Dr Samuel Lwandasa, who also serves as Chairperson of Interfaith Greater Mukono, Chairperson of Love, Peace, and Unity Pastors Destiny Forum Uganda, and Chairperson of Greater House Mukono, emphasized his long-standing commitment to healthcare in the district.

“I have been witnessing Mukono General Hospital serving our community since 1975. That is why I continue to lobby support towards it,” he said.

This donation is part of an ongoing effort by Bishop Lwandasa and Mt. Lebanon Church to strengthen healthcare delivery, not only at Mukono General Hospital but also in other health facilities such as Ntenjeru Health Centre, Kauga Prison Health Unit, Kyungu Health Centre, and other needy areas across the district.

He further thanked the management of Mukono General Hospital for their dedication to patient care, particularly mothers under intensive care, and expressed gratitude to the Government of Uganda, the Ministry of Health, health workers, and Mukono District Local Government for their commitment to service.

Bishop Lwandasa also encouraged community members to take their health seriously by going for regular medical checkups and embracing government health programs such as immunization.

Representing the District Health Officer, Dr. Kawesa James commended Mt. Lebanon Church for the donation and for raising awareness about health service uptake.

“We have a good working environment with Mt. Lebanon, and we promise that these donations will be put to proper use,” Dr. Kawesa said.

The medical superintendent,Dr. Kasirye Geoffrey of Mukono General Hospital thanked the church for its continued support but also highlighted existing challenges.

“We appreciate this support, but our biggest challenge remains inadequate infrastructure. We welcome organizations and partners willing to help us bridge this gap since plans are already in place,” he noted.

The event reaffirmed the strong partnership between faith-based institutions, the Government, and the community in improving healthcare access and service delivery in Mukono District.
