KAMPALA– The Judiciary Council Thursday 11th September, convened its first meeting of the financial year 2025/26 at the Supreme Court Conference Hall in Kampala, with the Chief Justice, Justice Alfonse Chigamoy Owiny – Dollo, presiding.

In his opening remarks, the Chief Justice welcomed members and commended them for their dedication to the Judiciary’s work.
Dollo congratulated Lady Justice Jane Frances Abodo on her upcoming assignment and lauded Lady Justice Okuo Jane Kajuga for her leadership as Acting Principal Judge, noting her significant contributions during her tenure.
Justice Owiny Dollo also, reminded members of the progress made at the previous Council sitting held in June at Speke Resort Munyonyo, where key instruments were approved. These are; the Constitution (Creation of Court of Appeal Circuits) (Practice) Directions, 2025 and the Administration of the Judiciary (Judicial Training Institute) Regulations, 2025.
The Chief Justice stated that the Annual Judiciary Performance Report for FY 2024/2025 will be launched on September 23, 2025, at the Supreme Court.
He therefore invited members to participate in the event, which will provide a platform to review performance and plan for better service delivery.
Among the key issues expected in Thursday meeting,include, consideration of a presentation on the draft Judiciary Anti-Corruption Strategy (2025/2026–2029/2030), which is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen accountability and integrity in the justice system.
Since its inception, the Judiciary Council has played a vital role in shaping reforms, guiding institutional planning, and advising on strategies to make justice delivery more efficient and accessible
