Kawempe– A few hours after National Unity Platform (NUP) has declined to grant Hon. Latif Ssebagala , former Kawempe North Member of Parliament party ticket to contest on the position of Kawempe Division Mayor, he has finally broken the silence.

Latif who is said to be in the holy cities of Mecca and Medina has revealed that this time, he will not obey the party decision, but he will be contesting on the same seat as an independent Candidate.
“Upon selection by the party, I wish to assure the great people of Kawempe Division that we shall now patiently await the ELECTION by the people. People Power will always prevail over the people with power.” Reads part of Latif’s statement.
However, he promised to give more details on his plans immediately after his return to the country.
The Election Management Committee of NUP, on Friday released a list of local Government candidates who had received the party ticket to contest on various Electoral positions in the forthcoming general elections.
In Kawempe Division, the card was given Emmanuel Sserunjogi, the incumbent and Hajji Latif Ssebagala was kick out of the race.
