KAMPALA– Dr. Dennis Mugimba, the Chairperson of the communications and signage CHAN/AFCON local organization sub-committee , a has revealed that the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has reduced the number of tickets that can be purchased online to a maximum of three per person.

Dr Mugimba who was addressing journalists at the Uganda Media Centre on Wednesday said the move is aimed at curbing fraud and stopping individuals from bulk buying tickets for resale at inflated prices.
“When you go online, the most tickets we direct the message from CAF that all Chan 2024 tickets are only available online. CAF has not availed any physical tickets for Chan 2024 since March day one” he said.
Dr Mugimba added, “Therefore, if you’re buying a physical ticket, there is a very good chance you have been duped and bought yourself a fake or duplicate ticket, we have noticed this. We’ve even noticed that some people upon entering the stadium, they send the various digital tickets they’ve entered with to other people”.
Mugimba further noted that availability of tickets for Saturday’s quarter final match between Uganda and Senegal begin today and encouraged fans to purchase match day tickets as soon as possible.
Mugimba urged fans to be conscious of unscrupulous people selling electronic tickets to them since they are most likely duplicate tickets.
“This will not be allowed because you cannot enter with a duplicate ticket, the ticket you have been sent electronically by someone else could be duplicate in that it is a genuine ticket, but the same ticket has been sold to many other people” he said.
On Monday, the Uganda Police spokesperson Kituuma Rusoke revealed that the force arrested 12 people over allegedly selling fake tickets for Monday’s Total CHAN 2024 match between the Uganda Cranes and South Africa at Namboole National Stadium.
“There are people who have tried to sell fake tickets or duplicates, and some have not survived it. We nabbed 12, and they are facing music with us now. We do not want you to fall victim by thinking that you can buy any ticket other than online” he noted.
