KAMPALA– The Deputy Chief Justice, Dr. Flavian Zeija, held the inaugural meeting with Organizing Committee of the Benedicto Kiwanuka Day Day at the Court of Appeal Building in Kampala.
The meeting focused on preparations for the upcoming Benedicto Kiwanuka Day, scheduled to be held on September 19, under the theme “Upholding Justice with Courage: Advancing the Benedicto Kiwanuka Legacy”.
The DCJ noted that in consultation with the Chief Justice, this year’s Benedicto Kiwanuka Memorial Lecture, held on September 21, will this year be observed on September 19, since the 21st falls on a Sunday.
It was proposed that one of the retired Chief Justices delivers the keynote address at this year’s Memorial.
Members discussed the composition of sub-committees tasked with handling different aspects of the event.
The Acting Chief Registrar, HW Lamunu Pamella Ocaya, noted that these sub-committees include: Protocol; Information, Communications and Technology (ICT); Communications, Media and Entertainment; Security; Finance; Reception and Hospitality; Awards; Secretariat; Speeches; and Medical.
The DCJ urged all sub-committees to convene before the next Committee meeting to provideupdates on their roles.
