Veteran Politician, Hon. Captain Francis Babu has vowed to stand by the truth, as well as support those with an aim of promoting true African values and Democracy.
On addressing the gathering at Uganda Law Society’s (ULS) at 30th RNB Live, Babu expressed the need for Africans to work towards unity and democracy rather than focusing on getting divided by Politics which were brought by white men with a view of disorganizing Africans.
“The British brought us the system of divide and rule which enabled them to rule us. Americans vote their president by Electoral college, , but when we practice it here they will say, u are undemocratic. They don’t want us to practice the democracy, they practice at their home.”
He therefore advised that instead of getting divided and engaging in violence like that which was witnessed in NRM Primaries,
Ugandans need to find a solution on why the country has failed to stabilize after independence.
“Some people intimidate, to the extent of threatening/intimidate to take your life , that is nonsense because this our country, if am going to die a martyr to make this country better , that’s is well and good.”
On the side of democracy, Babu asked the leaders to practice it fully not partially by practicing what favors them.
“Let’s ask ourselves the real question: Do we truly have democracy in this country, or are we simply pretending? Because from where I stand, it looks like we’re toying with the word democracy without fully understanding what it means.”
Ever since the recent NRM Primaries where his wife Hon. Margaret Zziwa says that was cheated, Babu has appeared on various media stations calling advocating for a fair and well organized election process with in the ruling which serves all people equally.
Harriet Naigaga, one of the contestants in the recently concluded NRM Primaries, blamed the election administrators for being the main reason behind internal electoral violence and thus advised them to invest heavily in voter awareness campaigns.
