KAMPALA-Parliament has cleared Kabale Regional Referral Hospital to sublease five acres of land to Kabale University to expand its medical school to benefit about 2.4 million people in kigezi sub region.

The motion seeking parliament to authorize Kabale Regional Referral Hospital to sublease five acres of land to Kabale University was moved by the minister of health, Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng, in the parliament plenary sitting chaired by the speaker of parliament Anita Among.
Dr. Aceng said that Kabale University secured 3 billion shillings for the desired medical school expansion to close the medical professional gap in the country.
She said that the five acres to Kabale hospital will cater for the expansion of its faculty of medicine which comprises operating theatres, lecture theatres, specialist clinics and patient wards.
