Mbuya – The Joint Staff Policy and Strategy in the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces, Major General Don Nabaasa, has emphasised the need for collaboration among staff to achieve institutional goals.

He made the remarks during the handover ceremony of the Office of the Director of Policy and Planning (DPP) from Colonel Herbert Nabimanya to Colonel Samuel Rombe Achile, held at the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs headquarters in Mbuya.
Maj Gen Nabaasa acknowledged the significance of the role and commended both the outgoing and incoming directors for their dedication and service.
“All performers use their staff to deliver. You should support your staff to succeed; otherwise, misuse of resources can lead to failure,” he said.
Col Achile, who takes over as Col Nabimanya proceeds to the National Defence College – Uganda (NDC-U), outlined his vision for the department, calling for innovation and accountability.
“Our goal is to enhance strategic structures while closing existing gaps. We must cultivate a proactive culture of creativity, innovation, discipline, professionalism, and patriotism within our ranks,” he said, urging staff to embrace a forward-looking mindset.
In his farewell remarks, Col Nabimanya thanked the DPP staff and section heads for their cooperation during his tenure.
“I am grateful to the DPP staff and the heads of sections for their unwavering support during my time in office. It is this teamwork that enabled us to deliver on the department’s mandate effectively,” he said.
The ceremony was attended by officials from the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs, senior and junior UPDF officers, and other stakeholders.
