Ugandans and non Ugandans on Social media platforms like X (formerly known as Twitter) have continued to prove the public that these platforms not only end at sharing information, but they can also contribute to the other good causes in the public.

Last week, news broke that one of the popular figures in Uganda on X, Dorcus Basheba Kirabo aka Maama D required financial support after birth complications, some well wishers on the platform launched a fundraising campaign to save the new Nalongo.
In Campaign championed by Journalist Gabriel Buule and President for Ugandans on X (UOX) , in less than a week managed to raise over six million Uganda Shillings through voluntary contributions.
“Friday, on the advice of a stranger she met at a video library in Kira considering her physical appearance ( swollen face, feet and hands), she went to a near by clinic for a check up. After a couple of tests, she was told she had severe pre-eclampsia which almost crushed her kidneys and was advised to go to a hospital immediately.” Narrated Kwikiriza after visiting Mama D
He also added that after that information, Maama D went home, picked a few things and rushed to TMR- Naalya.
That she went to TMR because, the hospital has her medical history since she’s been treated there for the last ten years, antenatal for this specific pregnancy inclusive. It was not just a fancy restaurant where she branched to.
“She had saved 3M for the process, it’s not like she had nothing and banked on other people to bail her out.She never expected the complications that emerged there after. Due to the complications such as pre- eclampsia, C-Section, NICU for two babies, Neonatal Hyperbilirubinaemia on the boy (A liver condition that causes yellowing of a newborn baby’s skin and eyes) etc, the bill has shoot 18M.”
Kwikiriza called upon the people not to judge the woman who is undergoing through challenging moment, but should atleast offer a hand if possible because nobody prepares enough for such moments in life.
“Since the babies are still in NICU. This, any one who has ever brought a child on earth can understand. It’s fine for anyone to judge her, but this is now a matter of life and death. Do we go ahead to judge or we save a life and judge or even punish after?” Added Nova
The fundraising campaign is still on via 0700391620 or 0773293128 Gabriel Buule.
Mama D came into limelight last year, after participating in cooking competitions through her Restaurant Mama D’s Kitchen with a view of breaking the Guinness world record.
