LWENGO– A few days after the Returning officer for National Resistance Movement (NRM) in Lwengo district have declared Muhammad Ssentaayi as the party flag bearer for Bukoto West, his rival Ibrahim Kitatta, Lwengo district chairman has broken the silence.

“I would like to thank the Party leadership and Electoral commission for trying their best in ensuring that they organize a samblance.. elections at grass root level. , but according to how they went on in Lwengo, they were marred with extreme violence.”
He pointed out that in some areas, Security personnel in the area for taking over the duties of Registrars to the extent of clearing those that didn’t qualify to participate in the voting process.
“We are receiving information from our supporters requesting me to run as independent candidate in the forthcoming elections. It is not illegal to run as NRM leaning because it’s provided for under the bill of rights.”
On what to do next, Kitatta said that he is still waiting for the advise from his seniors, after which he will be announcing his next move.
He however added that , coming on an independent ticket, it may weaken the ruling party which may give National Unity Platform and other opposition parties to shake NRM in the district, thus affecting President Museveni’s victory.
