KAMPALA– Journalists Eric Yiga of Salt Media and Ivan Kimbowa of URN have finally been released from the detention where they have been held since Saturday.

Their release followed the heavy demands put forward by the Uganda Journalists Association team.
These were allegedly arrested by State House Anti corruption Unit operatives over a story they wrote on Mukono municipality inspector of schools.
Meanwhile before they got released, the State House Anti-Corruption Unit had denied ever investigating nor arresting the two journalists based in Mukono.
Speaking to the media on Monday, 21st July, 2025, ACP Rusoke Kituuma the police spox revealed that police is not aware of the arrest of the two journalists and referred the matter to the State House Anti-Corruption Unit that had been accused of arresting the pair.
