MAKERERE– Huawei Technologies Uganda has officially rolled out the second edition of its 2025 Campus Recruitment Program at Makerere University, reaffirming its commitment to nurturing Uganda’s next generation of ICT professionals.

Thursday, held at the university’s iconic Main Building, the initiative aims to empower final year students and fresh graduates with career defining opportunities in engineering, networking, software development, and related fields.
Held under the theme “The Sky Is the Limit” and the slogan “A Better U for a Better Uganda,” the highly anticipated event attracted hundreds of eager students ready to step into Uganda’s fast-evolving digital landscape.
Addressing attendees, the Principal of Makerere’s College of Engineering, Design, Art and Technology (CEDAT), Prof. Moses Musinguzi, commended Huawei for its continued investment in academic industry partnerships.
He emphasized the crucial role of such collaborations in preparing students to transition seamlessly from academic theory to hands-on, real world application.
We value strategic partnerships that align with our mission to produce competent, industry ready graduates,” he said. “Huawei’s efforts in nurturing young talents with cutting edge global technology is a model we applaud and continue to support.”
The Principal further urged students to view ICT and engineering not just as jobs, but as long term professional career paths. He advised against chasing short-term earnings at the expense of building solid, future-proof careers rooted in innovation and professionalism.
Huawei Technologies Uganda’s Position Director for the Delivery & Service Department, Mr. Wang Bin, reiterated the company’s commitment to growing with the Ugandan community.
Musinguzi, also highlighted Huawei’s global standing in the ICT sector and the unique value it brings through such recruitment programs.
“This annual initiative is more than a job fair. It is a gateway to connecting Uganda’s brightest to global ICT opportunities,” Mr. Wang Bin, director Delivery and Service department representing the MD noted. “We are investing in people because we believe technology should serve and grow with the communities it touches.”
Adding a personal dimension to the initiative, 2024 Huawei Senior Ambassador Barbara Nuwagi shared her experience, underscoring the program’s role in guiding graduates to remain within their professional lanes. She emphasized the importance of persistence in ICT and engineering fields, rather than abandoning them post-graduation in search of quick employment.
“Many students veer off course after university. We are here to inspire and retain top talent within their field of study,” Nuwagi remarked. “This program is about finding the best and helping them rise.”
She also introduced her successor, 2025 Huawei Ambassador Kaweesi Erina, who now carries the torch to inspire a new wave of tech professionals.
