LWEZA- Jacqueline Mbabazi, a senior NRM leader and wife to former Prime Minister Hon. Amama Mbabazi, has been declared unopposed as the Older Persons Member of Parliament for the Western Region.

Her only challenger, Patrick Mutabwire, was disqualified by the Electoral Commission after failing to meet the minimum supporter requirements needed for nomination.
The declaration was made at the Electoral Commission offices by Richard Nsuube, the Returning Officer for Older Persons. Nsuube confirmed that Mbabazi was the sole validly nominated candidate, automatically securing her place in the next Parliament.
Jacqueline, who was accompanied by her husband during the announcement, expressed joy and gratitude upon receiving the news. She pledged to work closely with fellow legislators to champion the welfare of senior citizens.
“When I get to Parliament, I will work hand in hand with other leaders to ensure that our senior citizens receive reasonable welfare and the dignity they deserve,” she said.
Her unopposed victory marks a significant milestone for the representation of older persons in the Western Region.
